Giftbox Boutique added to Airpoints

Air New Zealand has added Giftbox Boutique to the Airpoints frequent flyer program as an earn partner. Members can earn 1 Airpoints Dollar per $50 spent at the online retailer.
Qantas Frequent Flyer will add David Jones as an earn and redemption partner later this year. The number of Qantas points members have earned through retailers has doubled in the last five years. At Virgin Australia's Velocity Frequent Flyer members must earn 50% of their Status Credits on Virgin Australia-operated flights to qualify for Silver, Gold, or Platinum status from October 1st.
Uber Australia's Uber One loyalty program

Uber Australia's Uber One loyalty program subscription revenue grew ~44% last year. Uber reported $120.7 million in subscription revenue which is primarily from the loyalty program which charges members $10 a month. Its Australian advertising revenue was up 55% last year (to $150.2 million) - almost double Snap Inc.'s domestic ad revenue.

Metcash's Retail Media Network LocalEyes, launched in November 2024, now has 133 digital screens live which is planned to grow to 750 by the end of FY26. They're targeting @ $30 million EBIT contribution by FY29.

Metcash's liquor division now has 400 stores in their loyalty programs for Cellarbrations, The Bottle-O and Porters Liquor (the biggest loyalty program across independents by number of stores). Members receive member prices and points.
More Rewards loyalty program

Liquor Marketing Group has rolled out its More Rewards loyalty program nationally with New South Wales last to go live. There's now 40,000 program members accounting for up to 28% of sales in some stores. The program runs on the Zen Global platform that LMG acquired in 2022.

pay.com.au, founded in 2020, lets businesses earn points on their expenses (including ATO bills, rent, supplier invoices and payroll). Those points can be transferred to 10 airlines (including Qantas and Velocity Frequent Flyer) and three hotel programs.
Target Australia will close its Target Shop+ App Rewards program on 21 July and focus on Wesfarmers OneDigital's OnePass and Flybuys. Shop+ predates OnePass and was designed to encourage shoppers to download the Target app and create an account. Just Group will also close its program at the end of June and its brands (Dotti, Jacqui E, Jay Jays, Just Jeans and Portmans) will join MYER One
Hump Club loyalty program

Thirsty Camel Bottleshops will this month roll out the third evolution of its Hump Club loyalty program. Hump Club loyalty transactions have doubled in the last 12 months. The upgrade will leverage gamification.
Commonwealth Bank's new retail media network CommBank Connect utilises CBA's 600 branches, 1,800 ATMs and 2,000 digital screens in branch. Though the bank's Quantium partnership, it has 365 audience segments and has delivered 418 million partnership impressions since October 2024.
Virgin Australia now has 13 million members in its Velocity Frequent Flyer program. In its partnership with Qatar Airways, starting 1 October, Velocity members will earn the same number of Status Credits on Virgin Australia’s Australia-to-Doha flights as on Qatar Airways marketed and operated flights on the same routes.

Woolworths Group Loyalty

Woolworths Group used a quarter of its $400m in targeted cost savings to lower prices for 400 supermarket products in May. ALDI Stores Australia responded with price reductions and now Coles Group has launched its own price and loyalty promotion. Its winter promotion reduces prices on 300 grocery items and its added 10 times Flybuys earning on 800 items during June.

Commonwealth Bank relaunched its whole of bank loyalty program Yello on 4th June. Customers can now get up to $460 in cashback annually on the bank’s products, up to $680 in discounts on mobile, NBN and electricity and cashback and discounts on retail spending at the likes of Coles Group, JB Hi-Fi and Chemist Warehouse.

MYER is relaunching its loyalty program

Kiwibank are closing the Air New Zealand Airpoints co-brand credit card they've offered since 2013 in October of this year. Regulation has increased costs for rewards cards (with more expected this year). Kiwibank notes it would have to reduce rewards or increase interest rates to cater for these. Their view; this would lead to customers who revolve (run a balance) further subsidising rewards
